51Talk has been officially accredited by IELTS, (International English Language Testing System) as an Academic Assessment Partner in 2023
It is well known that the IELTS test is recognised as proof of English language proficiency in Malaysia, as well as in Europe and the United States. It is one of the most universally recognised English language assessment standards in the world. If your child is planning to apply for an undergraduate course in Malaysia or study in Europe or the United States after graduation, it is likely that they will need to display their IELTS scores to meet the requirements of higher education institutions. 51Talk Malaysia and IELTS have also successfully signed a partnership agreement in 2023 to become one of the IELTS test-taking registration partners.
In other words, 51Talk Malaysia will be helping students with the registration process for the IELTS exam starting from now.
Candidates who have taken IELTS before know that the registration process is quite tedious. This includes the exam procedures and important things to have in mind, which can often be overlooked at the first instance and affect the final result.
This is where the assistance of 51Talk Malaysia will go a long way to alleviate the stress of taking the IELTS and the risk of falling foul of the exam regulations for in-house students.
Is it still necessary to take the IELTS test if I am already required to pass the MUET at a local university or university in Singapore?
The answer is: Of course, and it is essential.
Generally speaking, both the MUET and the IELTS can help you gain entry to universities in Malaysia and Singapore.

However, IELTS is more popular internationally as an international examination system. According to statistics, over 9,000 universities and colleges worldwide accept and require the IELTS qualification. Therefore, in order to study at a foreign university you must not only graduate with good grades, but you must also take the IELTS and meet the minimum pass mark required by the university.
Can 51Talk help students prepare for the IELTS exam in addition to applying for it?
Of course.
Getting a good score in IELTS is not an easy task. You may be able to improve your listening, reading and writing skills by practising, but you can’t improve your speaking skills by ” doing practice or exercises”.
Most of the excellent candidates are able to score more than 7 in Listening, Reading and Writing, but only linger below 5.5 in Speaking, which pulls down the overall score.
