51Talk Malaysia‘s student Braden is about to embark on the UN Climate Change Conference
Kuala Lumpur, 17 November 2023 – In a historic moment for Malaysia, Braden, a primary school student at SJKC Chong Cheng, Penang has been selected against intense competition to be the first ever Malaysian primary school student representative to speak out for the future at the upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference in Dubai.
Thousands of contestants competed in the competition and Braden came out on top with his excellent presentation skills and deep understanding of climate change issues. This is the first time that 51Talk Malaysia and the United Nations have collaborated to give this outstanding young representative a chance to be selected in Malaysia.
After a competitive selection process, Braden was not only honoured to represent Malaysia at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, but was also invited to an interview with YB NiK Nazmi Bin Nik Ahmad, Minister of Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change of Malaysia, on the 17th of November. During the interview, Braden shared his views on climate change and solutions to this global challenge.
Braden emphasised that everyone has a responsibility to speak up for the environment and called for a concerted effort to address the challenge of climate change. His insights and talents have caught the attention of the Minister, making him an outstanding representative on the topic of climate change.
Braden’s journey of learning English has benefited from 51Talk 1-on-1 online English learning class which provide opportunities for him to interact with foreign teachers. The parents expressed their gratitude to 51Talk for not only consolidating his English communication skills, but also developing his presentation skills. 51Talk has provided him with an enjoyable environment to learn English and enable him to express himself fluently on the international stage.
This means that Braden will be the first Malaysian primary school student to step onto the international stage at the United Nations Climate Change Conference, giving voice to the future generation and calling for global action to create a more sustainable future.
